The Bachelorette Pad

If you're looking to over-haul your living room, don't think too hard. An easy way to update this space is simply by switching out your pillows. West Elm is my favorite place to shop because once you own the pillows, you can buy the covers for a fraction of the price. Personally, I'm more of a grey-neutral-gal, but my roommate, Katie, had great chocolate sofas when I moved in.

Combining tastes and existing pieces from three different people can be a challenge, but it's something that we're all very excited about. I just purchased new pillow covers from West Elm to replace our mismatched existing ones and I am so astonished with the results! A picture may say a thousand words, but the feeling in this room is so much more calm and collected. The orange and zebra were in my old living room, but that sofa now lives in my bedroom. We covered Katie's silver and chocolate pillows and my orange ones with the Totem Pillow Cover and Handloomed Diamond Pillow Cover from West Elm. Unfortunately the large dual toned pillow cover does not look like it's on the site quite yet.

It may seem like I'm pulling a weight-loss campaign trick on you, but I really only had an iphone photo of the before ;)

Mixing textures and patterns is a great way to add depth to a room without going crazy in color. We still plan to add a rug and our final project will be replacing the frame over the sofa with a hand-painted canvas by the three of us.

P.S. Check out Cat's amazing 'found art' project!
She literally drove out in the desert and found the round container and Joshua Tree branches to create this. We're going to try and make more 'found art' very soon. (Cat, come home from San Fran!!!! I miss you!!) be continued.

I love both before and after pictures, is that bad? The before one looked super cozy! And the after one is cool, too ; )

haha actually I've seen a lot of cute decorators use Hunters as umbrella holders in the foyer. My roomie just likes to kick off her shoes before she enters her bedroom sometimes though. I have navy ones too:)
