This fall is all about 70's revival, luxe textures, and subdued hues that you can mix and match.
Below you will find the key pieces you need to incorporate into your wardrobe for those Pumpkin Spice Latte days that lie just on the horizon:

1. THE FLARE
The nice thing about flared denim is that it is very flattering and helps to balance the hip to ankle ratio so your leg no longer looks like an ice-cream cone in your size 26 skinnies
 JBrand 'Lovestory'
2. THE CLOG or THE PLATFORM
Don't let the clog intimidate you; there are many variations out there! If you're not ready to get in touch with your dutch ancestors quite yet, the platform will be an easy transition and keep your feet from aching when you dance all night.
Diane Von Furstenberg 'Octavia'    and    Dolce Vita 'Hayword'
3. UNEXPECTED LEATHER
By now, everyone should own a leather jacket. This season is all about wearing leather in an unexpected way. My personal favorite is the leather short. I picked up the perfect high-waisted, roomier pair by Joie at Nordstrom Rack. You don't have to break the bank, but as a warning pleather will rub and make you sweaty so you should probably avoid it...

4. THE WHITE SHIRT
You may already own a few, but do yourself a favor and go out and buy another- maybe a longer sleeve, a button up, a tank. Release your inner Tom Cruise; you can never own too many white shirts.
BB Dakota 'Reeder'  Vince 'Padded Shoulder Blouse'   Elie Tahari 'Devin Blouse'

Once you've got the foundations, you may choose to add a trendy touch or two and now is where we get into the real fun! Express yourself. This is my way:

5. FUR
Sorry PETA, I live for fur, but if you don't faux fur is a stylish option when done well.
Theory 'Rabbit Fur Vest'  and   BB Dakota "About Town' Faux Fur Coat

6. CASUAL SEQUINS
Shorts or pants are a great way to dress up an otherwise casual outfit and take it out on the town in the office if you work in a creative environment, like me. Don't break the bank- these are pricey pieces, but I found my sequin shorts at Urban for $20
J.Crew 'Sequin Harem Pant'   and  Diane Von Furstenberg 'Sequin Shorts'

7. THE LACE-UP BOOT
Whether you embrace your inner goth and go all-the-way with a knee high, or keep it preppy with a bootie, this is a major shoe for fall.

Sam Edelman 'Belmont'  and Steve Madden 'Dessertt'

8. THE MILITARY JACKET
This is one jacket that will earn you a medal of honor
Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Military Melton Jacket'

Shop around and see what you can find! All of these trends can be mixed and matched for any budget and any style-for example, the below pieces mix and match fur with the clog trend, lace-up boot trend, and military jacket trend! Now that is a great way to get the most bang for your buck.
